The Mueller Neighborhood Association is hosting its inaugural Juneteenth celebration on Saturday, June 7, from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Branch Park Pavilion (2006 Philomena Street, Austin, TX 78723). This immersive event will highlight Black-owned businesses, historical education, and interactive activities.
Come visit the Íøºì±¬ÁÏ and Bertha Sadler Means Young Women's Leadership Academy booths, and engage in in reflection, learning, and cultural appreciation. The Carver Library will provide educational resources, while Black-owned culinary vendors will offer South African cuisine, soul food, Cajun dishes, and barbecue.
Unlike traditional vendor fairs, this celebration will integrate artistic engagement and historical storytelling. Highlights include a Black author guiding children through comic strip creation, a vendor showcasing a Black music trivia game, and a button-making station promoting cultural expression. A local tech company will collaborate with students on QR-code-enhanced posters explaining Juneteenth’s significance. Ballet Afrique will introduce attendees to dance traditions, and live music and readings will amplify Black voices.
