Earth Week 2026 April 20th- May 1st!

Every day is Earth Day at AISD! From April 20th-May 1st especially, we hope that everyone in our school community will take a moment to think about how they can make the earth and our community a better place and perform an action to do so. This year’s website offers fun ways to engage and take action from school and from home. Enjoy!

More to come! We’ll add more fun ways to plug-in as Earth Week approaches.

Your school can be recognized for sustainability projects during Earth Week and beyond with program! Eco-Schools provides teachers and students with a framework to make positive, lasting change in your school community. Jump start your Eco-School journey with , and “how-to” videos to and ! Attention Teachers! Engage your students in the beauty of nature and the importance of environmental stewardship with captivating read alouds during Earth Week! The Humanities Department has created They include powerful HMH texts and open-ended questions to spark meaningful discussions and inspire action. Join us in celebrating Earth Week utilizing the power of literature! All AISD K-5 teachers have access to these materials. Celebrate National Poetry Month During Earth Week!

In honor of National Poetry Month and AISD Earth Week, we invite all K-12 classrooms to participate in This initiative merges environmental advocacy with Reading Language Arts TEKS through daily creative challenges.
From "Acrostic Nature Walks" in primary grades to "Environmental Persona Poems" in high school, these activities empower students to use their voices to protect our local ecosystem. Each prompt is designed to align with our daily themes—like Move it Monday and Veggie Viernes—making it easy for teachers to integrate sustainability into their existing curriculum. Join the movement: Let’s turn our environmental observations into powerful stanzas. Share your students' work on social media using #AISDGreen and #PoetryForThePlanet!

 

 

 

Bring sustainability and innovation into the classroom with EcoRise STEM Lessons & Student Innovation Grant funding!

Check out these from EcoRise, in partnership with AISD STEM! AISD partners with EcoRise to provide all AISD teachers with OPEN-SOURCE access to the Sustainable Intelligence Program: TEKS-aligned, cross-curricular K-12 lesson plans, teacher training, and support. Teachers also have access to Green Building Lessons for a Sustainable Future, Intro to Environmental Justice, Design Studio for sustainability and more! Enroll or access the lesson plans if you are already enrolled.

Additionally, teachers can support students to apply for funding from the Student Innovation Fund! Students can apply for grants of up to $750 per project to make their green innovations a reality. Measure an eco-theme in your campus environment using an Eco-Audit and then apply for a grant to fund your sustainability-focused project-based learning. Engaging AISD Staff in Earth Week:

 
 

Complete the Sustainable Schools course on BLEND and make your school greener!

We are happy to share course, available to all AISD classroom educators, campus and district staff, and students! This asynchronous BLEND course is designed to help everyone take full advantage of the sustainable features on AISD campuses, from rainwater catchment to refillable water bottle stations, from edible gardens to green cleaning products. Use these features and the resources available to transform your building and grounds into a hands-on learning lab for sustainability education. Complete the course asynchronously for 6 hours of PLED eligible PD hours.

 

 

 

AISD Staff Wellness Challenge

To support wellbeing across the district while celebrating Earth Week, we are inviting all AISD employees to participate in this friendly challenge and complete task(s) on the !

  • To participate, you will follow the below steps:
    • Complete your selected task(s) on the and check them off as you go.
    • Next to each task is a number of points the task is worth. When you are ready to submit, you will add up all the points you earned and circle what level you got to at the bottom of the card (seedling, sprout, tree, earth champion). The more tasks you complete, the more points you earn, and the more entries into the drawing for AirPods you get!
    • Post a photo of your completed Wellness Challenge Card on , include your first and last name, and AISD email in your submission.
  • Padlet allows everyone to interact and encourage each other throughout the challenge!
  • All participants will be entered into a drawing for Apple AirPods (thanks to our sponsors).
