Family Learning Opportunities

The Íøºì±¬ÁÏ Department of Special Education hosts Family Learning Opportunities throughout the year. These sessions include a variety of topics related to students with disabilities and special education. For more information, please contact Kellie Marino or Bree Rolfe at 512-414-SPED (7733).

Paving the Way: A Special Education Resource Morning

Presented by the Transition & Early Childhood Special Education Teams  

Join the special education early childhood and transition teams for breakfast and to learn about important resources that you and your student will need for future support both in school and in the community. This event is designed for families with a student in early childhood through 5th grade who are accessing special education services. Breakfast and coffee will be provided.

Empower Hour: Unlock Reading with Learning Ally

Presented by Melinda Lanham

Through TEA funding, families now have free access to Learning Ally’s library of human-narrated audiobooks. Empower your student with reading disabilities, visual impairments, or physical disabilities by learning about this great service. By utilizing these resources at home, children can independently engage with grade-level texts to strengthen their vocabulary and academic confidence.

2026 Destination Life Conference

The Destination…Life Transition Conference helps Central Texas families prepare and support their student(s) with disabilities for life beyond high school. Families can expect to gather information and gain access to experts on how to help their student(s) with disabilities ranging from early childhood through high school to successfully transition to adulthood.

This Q&A-focused event features representatives from AISD’s mental health, enrollment, and special education teams to answer your questions and provide guidance for the 2026 transition.
